2005 NHTSA: This final rule establishes a new Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) requiring installation of a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) capable of detecting when one or more of a vehicle's tires is significantly under-inflated.
2008 USA: Start implementation phase
2012 Clarification on the ruling: 'It is illegal for an automobile repair facility to knowingly not re-install a functioning TPMS system if vehicle arrived at facility with functioning TPMS system"
2014 The European Union requires all new passenger vehicles to be equipped with TPMS from November.
2015 South Korea: Start implementation phase
